Showing the main ports, rivers, estuaries on the English Channel which
the French call La Manche (the sleave).
Many people will use the river Seine as a gateway to the French river
and canal system. Access via th Seine will allow you to cruise on most
of the major rivers and canals of Europe. If you arrive from the US, Ireland
or Southern UK, and are planning to cruise to the Med, Lake Geneva or
even work your way across to the Danube, then this route is a good alternative
to the Rhine river.
