Brief summary for River Saone (Lower)
The lower Saône, down stream of Saint Jean de Losne, this is the wide and deep section of the river, with very large modern locks.
Between Chalon, Macon and Lyon, try and visit the vine yards of area. You'll enjoy the fruity Beaujolais wines.
KM 145 Junction for the Canal du Centre at Chalon sur Saône.
If you wish to not to pass Macon, which is a good idea when the water is high, hence avoiding the arched bridge, use the "by-pass".

The barge Delta, which is crewed by some of the most expereienced fellows in France, offers a grand cruise on the Saone river, with the possibility of cruising down to Lyon or up to Gray.
