The lower Saône, down stream of Saint Jean de Losne, this is the wide and deep section of the river, with very large modern locks. Between Chalon, Macon and Lyon, try and visit the vine yards of area. You'll enjoy the fruity Beaujolais wines. |

If you wish to not to pass Macon, which is a good idea when the water is high, hence avoiding the arched bridge, use the "by-pass". |
